St. Martin's Grand Case Airport to Get First Flights from U.S.

May 27, 2010 By: Joe Pike

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – During a press conference hosted Wednesday by the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau during the ninth annual SMART tradeshow, it was announced that the Grand Case Aiport on St. Martin, the French side of the country, will get its first flight from the U.S. soon.

Although it wasn't announced who the carrier will be nor was an exact date of the launching of the flight given, Corrine Picaut, director of the St. Martin Office of Tourism, says the flight will be a small, 50-seat plane arriving from New Jersey.

Currently, there are no flights from the U.S. to Grand Case. All of the U.S. flights instead fly to the Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten, the Dutch side of the country.
