NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police are investigating after a man visiting from Arkansas was attacked after refusing to buy tickets to the Statue of Liberty.

It happened around Monday afternoon in front of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in lower Manhattan.

WABC-TV (http://7ny.tv/1PDRuQQ ) says the victim and his family were approached by a woman who told them she was selling tickets to the attraction. When he said he wasn't interested, another man came up and punched him in the face.

Authorities say the victim was knocked unconscious and suffered a fractured skull. The two suspects, who police believe were selling fake tickets, ran off.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said police would be "very aggressively" investigating.

Police say they are continuing to investigate. No arrests have been made.
