Statue Cruises Schedules More Tours Around the Statue of Liberty

The Statue of LibertyWhether visiting New York City for the first time, or a local looking to pose as a tourist for the day, nobody should miss the chance to see the Statue of Liberty up close! Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Sandy, Liberty Island has been closed since October 29, 2012. But fear not! Yesterday, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and New York Senator Charles Schumer announced that the Statue of Liberty will reopen on July 4, 2013.

In the interim, Statue Cruises offers a cruise to the Statue of Liberty. In fact, in anticipation of the reopening, Statue Cruises is expanding its daily Statue of Liberty Harbor Tours, with up to 20 departures a day, seven days per week. The hour-long tours depart from Battery Park at the foot of Manhattan every 30 minutes.

Statue Cruises does not only feature close views of the Statue of Liberty. Other notable NYC sites include Ellis Island, the 9-11 Memorial, the South Street Seaport, Governors Island and the Brooklyn Bridge. In addition to sightseeing, passengers may also interact with National Park Service Rangers who are on-board every tour and are available to lend their expertise.

Tickets for the narrated sightseeing tours are $24.00 (adults); $17.00 (seniors) and $12.00 (children).
Prior to embarking, passengers can purchase tickets online, by phone at 201-604-2800, or at the seawall in Battery Park.
