2010 to be a Record Year for Singapore

April 22, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger

The Singapore Tourism Board is smiling when it looks towards 2010. The STB announced its forecasts for the tourism industry for 2010 yesterday, and it is predicting 11.5 to 12.5 million in visitor arrivals and approximately $9 billion in tourism receipts.

To what do we owe this good news? Singapore has undergone a transformation thanks to multibillion-dollar investments in new tourism infrastructure, such as Marina Bay Sands, Resorts World Sentosa, Gardens by the Bay, and a brand new International Cruise Terminal, which will be unveiled in 2011.

STB's Chief Executive, Aw Kah Peng says, "Despite last year being an exceptionally challenging one, the tourism industry weathered it credibly. With the global travel industry to recover this year and with Singapore offering an even more compelling suite of tourism experience, including the two Integrated Resorts that open this year, we are confident that the sector will be able to register its best performance to date."
