Additional Fuel Surcharge Reduction from Singapore Airlines

February 4, 2009 By: Mark Rogers

Singapore Airlines will reduce fuel surcharges on short and medium-haul sectors, for tickets issued beginning today (February 4). The reduction ranges from around 5 percent to 21 percent, with the highest reduction being for short-haul sectors in economy class.

The reduction is the third time the carrier has trimmed its surcharges since fuel prices began easing. Application of fuel surcharges may be subject to regulatory approval or variation in some individual markets. Singapore Airlines will keep jet fuel prices, and any applicable surcharges, under constant review. Despite the recent easing of jet fuel prices, the carrier notes that collections from fuel surcharges only partially relieve the increased expenditure on jet fuel and prices remain volatile.
