Pan Pacific Hotels Group recently announced plans to open its flagship PARKROYAL hotel, PARKROYAL on Pickering, in Singapore in 2012. The 363-room hotel, which will be centrally located near Singapore’s central business district, represents a $268 million investment and will be designed to meet the highest green building standards in Singapore.
To do so, Pan Pacific hired design firm WOHA to create a hotel-in-a-garden concept and to incorporate sustainable features that will meet Singapore’s Green Mark Platinum score. WOHA has previously designed buildings that include The Met in Bangkok and the School of the Arts and Stadium Mass Rapid Transit Station in Singapore.
The hotel’s eco-friendly and sustainable features include rainwater harvesting, automatic sensors to regulate energy and water usage and solar cells that will power landscape lighting. Greenery will also be employed throughout the hotel’s design concept via four-story-tall skygardens, covering an area of 161,459 square feet around the building’s façade.
This flagship hotel will also offer a dedicated wellness floor with a day spa, a 984-foot-long nature trail and waterfall walk, an expansive pool terrace, a state-of-the-art gym and a business center with full secretarial services. Guests can also unwind at a rooftop bar that will offer 360-degree views of the city skyline.
Pan Pacific Hotels Group currently owns and operates three other PARKROYAL properties in Singapore—PARKROYAL on Beach Road, PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road and PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Singapore. Recently, Pan Pacific has opened three PARKROYAL properties in Australia, and has plans to debut the hotel brand in China in 2013 with PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Green City, Shanghai and PARKROYAL Taihu Resort, Suzhou in 2014.
