Singapore Hotels Offer Creative Amenities

November 8, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger

2010 was a record-breaking year for Singapore's tourism industry, and with the opening of some of the most touted hotels and resorts, this didn't come as a surprise. Always striving to remain at the forefront and on the cutting edge, Singapore hotels are boasting some innovative amenities that we think should be kept in mind when selling vacations to your clients.

The Four Seasons Hotel Singapore is giving new meaning to 'room service' by allowing guests to order their perfect pillow the same way they would order a meal. Consult the eight-item Pillow Menu and select the one that best matches you. For example: The Latex Pillow provides support no matter what position, so we think this would best suit restless sleepers, while the Hypoallergenic Feather Pillow is ideal for stuffy sleepers. There is even a Pregnancy Pillow, a Contour Pillow and an Anti-Snore Pillow.

Hotel Fort Canning is offering room service in traditional handmade wooden Tiffin Carriers with a modern twist. These carriers are definitive of Singapore and considered a type of 'lunch box.'

The Naumi Hotel has something for the tech-savvy traveler and has introduced iPads at the front desk and in all areas that serve food and beverage. The iPad allows travelers to peruse a list of attractions, stay in touch with friends and look up menus and wine lists.

the club hotel has put a comedic spin on the the traditional 'do not disturb sign,' allowing guests to select options as 'order, please make up my room for me,' or 'nothing, I feel content for me." Note: The traveling beer connoisseur can enjoy the club's own special signature brew, Harry's Premium Lager.

Everyone knows, or should know, Marina Bay Sands. The new integrated resort is allowing guests to bypass lines at the airport with its own check-in service. Guests can check-in at least three hours before a flight and receive boarding passes and baggage claim tickets. This service is currently only being offered Thursday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for passengers departing on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir flights.
