After five consecutive of record-breaking numbers months, Singapore is still hot. The numbers are showing that, in April alone, Singapore's number of visitors increased 20.4 percent, totaling 938,000 visitors from around the world.
From January to April the country welcomed over 3.6 million international visitors. It seems the country is well on its way to meeting its 11.5-12.5 million visitors by the end of 2010, especially with the host of festivals slated to run throughout the rest of the year.
Next week (July 16) kicks off the annual Singapore Food Festival, opening the culinary world's eyes to Singapore's cuisine. Participants enjoy food carnivals, tasting sessions, chef demonstrations and interactive cooking workshops.
August 14-26 marks the Youth Olympic Games, which will draw over 5,000 athletes to Singapore.
Finally, September will bring the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix, slated for September 24 to 26. This will feature the only nighttime street race in Formula One history.
The number of arrivals thus far are no doubt helped by the opening of the two new integrated resorts, Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa. The next few years will also bring big infrastructure changes, including the International Cruise Terminal (2012); Gardens by the Bay (2011); and the National Art Gallery (2013).
