Singapore Tourism Shrinks for Seventh Straight Month

The Singapore Tourism Board has released tourism numbers for December showing a reduction in arrivals. This represents seven straight months of shrinkage for the country. Tourist arrivals to Singapore fell to 880,000 in December, down 6.9 percent from the same month a year earlier. Hotel revenue dropped 7.4 percent to $93 million. Arrivals fell 1.6 percent in 2008. The picture isn’t completely bleak, since tourist revenue for 2008 reached a record high of $9.8 billion) last year.
