Hotels Offer Exclusive Access to Switzerland's Longest Torch-Lit PisteNovember 6, 2013
Hugh Morris, The Daily Telegraph, November 6, 2013
Guests at two hotels will have exclusive access to Switzerland's longest torch-lit piste on three nights this winter, as the sound of traditional Alpine horns fills the air.
The nighttime skiing and snowboarding on the Corvatsch mountain is part of a package put together by the Kulm Hotel in St Moritz and sister property the Grand Hotel Kronenhof (pictured below) in neighbouring Pontresina.
Guests will have three hours from 7.30pm to enjoy the 4.2km piste, dine and drink at a host of on-mountain restaurants and soak up the atmosphere at the traditional Hossa Bar, from where Alpine horn blowers will serenade the nocturnal crowds.
The Corvatsch rises to 3,303m and has 120km of pistes, but only the torch-lit piste will be open to guests on the dates – 14 December 14, February 15 and April 5.
These hotels aren't the only to offer exclusive access to a ski area with a night's stay. At the end of November guests at the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa, Switzerland, will be able to hit the slopes of the Grisons Mountains on the day before the lifts open to the general public.
Rates at the Kulm Hotel start at £395 per person per night, based on two sharing, half-board, while the Grand Kronenhof, which was named Best Hotel in Switzerland by Trip Advisor this year, starts at £375 for the same.
