Jackson Hole Closes With Record Skier Days

April 5, 2006 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) in Wyoming closed this week, and resort officials announced that its final skier day numbers approximate 455,500, breaking the previous record of 397,500, set in 2004-05. While officials pinned the solid numbers partly on the third-highest snowfall on record-a typical reason why ski resorts have good years-Jackson Hole also got an extra jolt of publicity this year, having announced that this would be the last year that skiers and boarders could ride the mountain on its storied Aerial Tram. That resulted in "a lot of the end-of-season business," according to JHMR President Jerry Blann. New capital projects or next year include a full-service, on-mountain restaurant, installation of 18 additional cabins for the Bridger Gondola and, pending Forest Service approval, and the addition of a temporary chairlift to the summit.
