Blount Small Ship Adventures Has New Atlantic Coastal Cruises

Blount Small Ship Adventures will operate three new voyages in the U.S. Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions starting in spring 2015. The new routes include New York to Washington D.C.; Washington D.C. to Boston; and Maine & New Brunswick. Guests who book during the early booking period -- by Oct. 31 -- will receive 15 percent off.

"The Big Apple to the U.S. Capital"

Departing May 22, June 1, June 11 and June 21, this eight-night itinerary sails from New York to Alexandria, VA. Along the way, guests take historical and cultural excursions, including a walking tour of Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, a visit to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and a stop at a Baltimore waterfront restaurant to sample Chesapeake blue crabs.

During the ship's time in Alexandria, Va., passengers can tour the historic city or visit iconic landmarks in Washington D.C. Rates start at $2,999 per person.

"Washington D.C. to Boston"

This Grande Mariner itinerary allows guests to explore Washington D.C., Alexandria, VA, Baltimore, MD, Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, New London, CT, Newport, RI and Boston, MA. The cruise embarks in Alexandria, Va. on June 11 and spends 11 nights sailing 15 East Coast waterways.

Highlights of the cruise include a Captain’s Cocktail Party with live musical entertainment in Alexandria, a day at sea in New York Harbor with skyline views and a trip to the world’s largest maritime museum, Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. Rates for the cruise start at $3,999 per person.

"Two Nation Vacation: Maine & New Brunswick"

On this itinerary, passengers explore coastal towns in two countries. The Grande Caribe sets sail July 22, Aug. 2, 14 and 25, with departures from Saint John, New Brunswick, and Portland, ME

Port calls include Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John, Grand Manan and St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick in Canada. American port calls include Eastport, Bar Harbor, Rockland, Bath and Portland, ME. 

A festive welcome dinner and celebration with local entertainment marks the start of the voyage. Highlights include live Acadian music in Digby, a bagpiper and Canadian Mountie at arrival in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea and an “Evening of the Arts” at local galleries in Eastport.

The Aug. 2 departure is the annual President’s Cruise, which gives guests the chance to explore alongside Nancy Blount, president of Blount Small Ship Adventures. Rates for the nine-night cruise begin at $3,749 per person double. 

Perks for Guests

All Blount cruises include three meals daily with menus that often reflect local cuisine; refreshments and snacks 24-hours a day; guest lectures and workshops. Blount cruises also feature a BYOB policy, with mixers and set-ups for cocktails available throughout the day, along with complimentary house wine and beer offered during lunch and dinner.

Founded in 1966, the company operates two U.S.-registry and U.S.-crewed ships. Each ship carries a maximum of 88 passengers. Ship features include retractable pilothouses and shallow-draft bow landing ramps that enable the vessels to access remote destinations larger ships cannot.
