Two crew members are dead, following a fire that broke out on Hurtigruten’s Nordlys, which was sailing Thursday morning just off the Norwegian coastal city of Aaelesund. Clouds of black smoke billowed from the ship as it was escorted into port.

All passengers are safe, and have been safely evacuated to the Rica Parken Hotel in Ålesund. At the time of the fire, there were 207 guests on board of varying nationalities and 55 crew members.
Eight crew members have been taken to the hospital, four of those with serious injuries.
Local police said 106 passengers were evacuated in lifeboats before the vessel docked at Alesund; the rest were removed in port as fire crews battled the blaze.
Hurtigruten says passengers are being reaccommodated either on another voyage, or in arrangements home or to another destination.
Hurtigruten has set up a hot line for relatives at  +47 47 83 47 00.
