The Mantis Collection, a group of five-star hotels, townhouses and game reserves in South Africa and Europe, has added the Grande Roche Estate to its portfolio. In the Drakenstein Valley of Paarl in South Africa’s Cape Wineland country, Grande Roche is made up of 29 luxury suites—featuring thatched roofs, bamboo and yellow ceilings—and five executive rooms, a health center, two restaurants, an accessories gallery, two tennis courts, heated swimming pools, a conference hall and amphitheatre.

The top accommodation at the hotel is the Honeymoon Suite, which has a lounge, bedroom with a king-size bed, a bathroom with double shower and Jacuzzi and a private sun terrace with a separate, enclosed patio. The deluxe Duplex Suites are great for families, where extra beds for kids can be put in the lounge area. The junior Duplex Suites are also a good pick for families. The Terrace Suites feature private verandas with views of the surrounding vineyards. The Standard Rooms have an integrated lounge and bedroom with three kind-size beds and two queen-size beds and a bathroom with a separate bath and shower.

The property also features a Manor House.


The hotel has a long history, a heritage that dates back to 1707. The hotel's heritage dates to 1707. In 1991 the homestead was transformed into a luxury hotel. In 1993, the hotel was declared a national monument.
