Fiji Airways' New Cargo Interline Deals Could Lead to New Partnerships Abroad

fiji airwaysFiji Airways, Fiji's national airline, recently announced new interline cargo agreements with five other airlines for the carriage of freight between Fiji and numerous cities in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States. 

The new agreements are part of Fiji Airways' strategy to enhance airline partnerships across its passenger and freight business and to allow Fijian exporters to reach new markets abroad. The new interline partners include Korean Air, Hawaiian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Malaysia Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines.

"We're always on the lookout for new partnerships that enhance our network as well as position Fiji Airways and Fiji as a great airline and destination, respectively, in the international aviation business," said Stefan Pichler, managing director and CEO of Fiji Airways comments, in a written release. "We're pleased that we were able to sign the new interline deals, as they provide Fijian businesses more opportunities for the trading of goods & services on the international sphere."

Fiji Airways will provide its new partners with cargo feeds from 34 of its flights and in return will be able to link up to 47 new international flights.

"Our freight customers will be able to ship cargo to new destinations, such as Beijing through Hong Kong Airlines," said Pichler. "The Etihad Airways arrangement will complement our cargo interline deal with Emirates, expanding our reach in the Middle East and Europe. We are also giving further cargo capacity to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines through Auckland and Sydney. Moreover, Fijian businesses are now able to import products from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore."

On Etihad Airways, new export destinations include Dubai, Johannesburg, Moscow, Amsterdam, London, Dallas, Brussels, Zurich, Paris, Frankfurt and Colombo. On Hong Kong Airlines, new export destinations include Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Guilin, Haikou, Sanya and Nanning.
