Asia Reports Visitor Arrival Growth in June

June was a strong month for Asia, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) reports. According to preliminary arrivals figures of international visitors, June 2010 is showing a year-on-year growth in arrivals of 17 percent. For the first half of 2010, international visitor arrivals to the region grew by 11 percent.

Northeast Asia received the bulk of the arrivals coming in at a 19 percent increase for June. Northeast Asia includes Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Macau.

Arrivals to South Asia grew by 13 percent in June, including Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Nepal, India and Bhutan.

Southeast Asia, which showed 11 percent increase year-on-year, takes the lead for arrivals increases for all of 2010 to this point: an increase of 13 percent. Southeast Asia includes Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
