Hermanus is one of four main towns agents should be pitching to clients heading to South Africa's Cape Whale Coast

DURBAN, South Africa -- As part of our ongoing coverage of INDABA 2014, Travel Agent sat down with Glenda Kitley, tourism manager for the Cape Whale Coast in South Africa, and learned some valuable selling tips for agents looking to book this off-the-beaten-path gem.

The Whale Coast is made up of a collection of villages, farms, rivers, bays, coves and valleys, but agents should be pitching the main towns of Hermanus, Gansbaai, Stanford and Kleinmond.

Here's a quick breakdown of who agents should be targeting when pitching this exotic getaway.

For Hermanus, Kitley recommends whale watching enthusiasts of all ages. The best time for whale watching here is from July to November.

Marine life is also the main attraction on Gansbaii in the form of shark diving so be sure to target young, adventurous clients for this destination.

Stanford is best suited for river cruise enthusiasts and lovers of a good, cold beer as this destination is home to an impressive microbrewery, Birkenhead Brewery. As the first brewing estate in the southern hemisphere, Birkenhead Brewery is a small located in the shadow of the Kleinriver Mountains.

Lastly, Kleinmond is a paradise for nature lovers as it is home to the famous Kogelberg Biosphere, a popular spot for spotting penguins amongst other wildlife.

The coast is right on tip of the continent and located just outside Cape Town. It runs from the coastal hamlet of Rooiels in the west to Quoin Point in the East and is flanked by mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.
