Iberia Announces Business Plus Class UpgradesMarch 3, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox
Yesterday, Iberia unveiled improvements to its long-haul Business Plus seating class in Miami, one of the Spanish airline's key destinations, as part of an ongoing roadshow to inform customers of new developments.
The event, held at the Cisneros Fontanal Arts Foundation, was reportedly attended by more than 200 people, some of the company's principal customers in Miami, including leading members of the local Spanish and American business communities.
Travelers in Iberia's Business Plus class can now sit in ergonomic lounge seats that unfold into fully flat beds, along with personal space enlarged to more than seven feet. Nearly all the airline's 33 foot-long-haul aircraft are now equipped with the new configuration, and the refitting will be completed in the course of this month.
Iberia has already started work on the design and selection of components for the next generation of Business class, to be introduced in 2012.
The improvements to Business Plus class are part of the comprehensive customer service upgrade program that Iberia launched last year. The airline is spending $204 million on the program to enhance Iberia's services at every point of contact with customers.
The program also includes the remodeling of Iberia's VIP lounges, extending on-line auto check-in to all destinations, boarding by cell phone, new benefits in the Iberia Plus loyalty program, including the launch of Iberia Plus Platinum, and the extension of limousine service at the airports of Buenos Aires, São Paulo, and Mexico City.
