ASTA Names Peter Lobasso New General Counsel

peter lobassoThe American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) has named Peter Lobasso as the organization's new general counsel. 

Lobasso brings to ASTA over 15 years of experience in corporate law and a wealth of knowledge in areas such as contracts, employment and labor law, and intellectual property, ASTA said. Barred in New York, Virginia, and Washington, DC, Lobasso joins ASTA from Berenson LLP, a specialty law firm in Great Falls Virginia, where he was the managing attorney and counsel to major corporations nationwide. In addition to representing multinational companies, Lobasso successfully represented clients in major arbitration proceedings and mediations, obtained over 75 Federal trademark registrations, protected the rights of small business clients, and negotiated multi-million dollar transactions in numerous states. His extensive experience in regulatory compliance and complex litigation will also be of great value to ASTA and its members.

At ASTA, Lobasso will be responsible for supporting Senior Vice President, Government & Industry Affairs Eben Peck and Vice President, Industry Affairs Mark Meader in the development and execution of ASTA's industry and government affairs agenda. Lobasso will also serve as policy advisor to Zane Kerby, ASTA's president and CEO, on a full range of legal matters affecting the association and the industry, including corporate strategy. He will also work closely with Jennifer Michels, vice president, communications, and serve as a spokesperson to media on industry issues.
