The Rezidor Hotel Group has opened a new flagship in Sweden, Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm. The 414-room hotel has a direct connection to the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center, one of Scandinavia's largest facilities for meetings and events. Both properties are owned by Vital Forsikring, a company in the DnB NOR Group, and have been developed in close cooperation with Rezidor. Designed by White, a leading Scandinavian architectural agency, the hotel and Congress center feature contemporary interiors by RPW Design (London).
Located in Stockholm's city center, the hotel is within walking distance of the Arlanda Express rail link to the airport and the central railway station. Radisson Blu Waterfront is also close to Stockholm's business district, boutique shops, the cobbled streets of "Old Town," or Gamla Stan.
Rooms at the hotel have views of Riddarfjärden, the bay surrounding the city, and City Hall. The property's three suites are situated on the top floor and offer views of Lake Mälaren, Riddarfjärden and City Hall. Nice touch: All rooms and suites have complimentary high-speed internet access.
The 230-seat restaurant RBG Bar & Grill offers a casual ambience and views of the bustling city streets and waterways of Lake Mälaren. The hotel also has a lobby bar with an open fireplace for drinks and light snacks.
The hotel also has a green connection: The Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center has over 11,000 square feet of solar paneling that generates an average of 1MW of heating energy per day. The heat that is generated from the solar panels is used to warm the rooms of the Congress Center, while cold water drawn from Lake Klara is used to cool the rooms. Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center will be certified in accordance with the new "Green Building" EU standard, and is actually twice as energy effective than this standard requires.
The center has more than 150,000 square feet of floor space, including a 3,000-seat auditorium. The complex also includes a banquet hall with space for up to 2,000 guests, and there is a business center on the 2nd and 3rd floors with a number of meeting rooms of varying sizes and with flexible space for approximately 1,000 people. Advanced solutions for lighting, sound and telecommunications are also integrated and monitored by Rezidor's internationally experienced service teams.
Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel is the sixth Rezidor property to open in Stockholm. Direct flights are available from New York, Chicago and Washington D.C. via SAS and other airlines.
