Among Taiwan's major competitors was China, which moved up in the 2009 rankings to 47 from 62 in 2008, and South Korea, which remained in the 31 spot. According to the WEF report, the top ten were Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Canada, Spain, Sweden, the U.S., Australia and Singapore.
