Amadeus Airport Express Helps Agents

October 23, 2009 By: George Dooley

Travel agents can deliver added value to their clients – and earn increased sales and revenues – with Amadeus Airport Express, which makes pre-arranging transportation between city center and airport as easy as purchasing a subway ticket. Amadeus recently extended Airport Express to Kuala Lumpur to coordinate with KLIA Ekspres, a nonstop, high-speed train service that connects the Kuala Lumpur International Airport with the Kuala Lumpur city center.
Airport Express enables agents to book airport-to-city transportation for clients when booking flights to international destinations. The additional booking opportunity, exclusive to Amadeus clients, creates new sales and commission opportunities. Amadeus Airport Express allows agents to search, book and ticket partner transportation services direct from the Airline Display in all versions of the Amadeus Selling Platform. The additional airport-to-city booking opportunity, exclusive to Amadeus clients, creates new sales opportunities that can increase sales and commissions.
“International travel rarely stops at the airport, and Amadeus is the only GDS that enables agents to easily and conveniently get their clients closer to the meeting or vacation they’re traveling to attend,” said Alix Arguelles, director, product management, Amadeus North America. “It’s the perfect complement to international flight bookings, helping agents broaden their offering, demonstrate additional value, and generate more revenue.”
The new partnership enables more than 100,000 travel agents worldwide to book frequent, reliable and direct airport-to-city transportation at the same time they book flights and accommodations for their customers traveling to Kuala Lumpur. The trip to the heart of the city takes 28 minutes, and KLIA Ekspres operates every 15 minutes during peak hours. Since it entered in operation in April 2002, KLIA Ekspres has carried over 26 million passengers.
