American To Offer In-flight Online Service

American Airlines is testing its new Aircell Internet broadband capability on 15 aircraft, and expects to be the first U.S. airline to offer the service. Dan Garton, American Airlines' executive vice president, marketing, stressed the importance of the move for business travelers. The service provides connectivity for passengers who want to use PDA's and laptops for real-time, full-service, in-flight broadband, Internet, e-mail and VPN. The system will be thoroughly tested and requires FAA certification. (GD)
