Global Travel Management Reports on Travelport's Universal Desktop

Travelport reports it is now providing a live version of the Travelport Universal Desktop to Global Travel Management (GTM) in the UK.  The travel management company (TMC) is the first of Travelport’s UK customers to benefit from the application, which streamlines the travel booking process within a single, powerful platform. Travelport says.

Global Travel Management, an Advantage Focus Group member, specializes in providing a diverse range of services from airline to theatre tickets, servicing both small and large companies.  Through Travelport Universal Desktop, the TMC will now gain access to advanced desktop functionality including the ability to seamlessly combine all components of the travel itinerary and centrally manage profile and policy information, all within the highly configurable desktop, Travelport says.

Initially chosen to influence the development of the application and provide insight into how the next-generation travel agency desktop should be evolved, GTM is now using the live version.

Some of the Universal Desktop’s key features include:

•    Multi-source content through a single application – Agents will be able to shop and buy content from their own sourced content, the web, supplier-direct connections, low-cost carriers, rail operators and GDS content – all through a single application.

•    Multiple itinerary selections priced at once – Using the advanced Price Mixer feature, agents will be able to create itineraries that price multiple trip components at once from different suppliers and varying classes of travel to save time and improve productivity.

•    Travelport Universal Profile – This advanced profiling system will enhance workflows and customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities. Agents will be able to centrally manage profiles and policies to eliminate dependence on multiple systems.

•    Travelport Universal Record – A Super PNR will combine all trip segments, regardless of where or how a booking occurred. Shopping and booking across multiple sources will be integrated for real-time quality control, database services and back-office reporting.

Scott Pawley, managing director at Global Travel Management, commented, “GTM is proud to be the first UK test customer to make live bookings on the Travelport Universal Desktop. The fact that it’s highly intuitive and easy to use and also very strong in terms of shopping capabilities means that it’s a standout solution. For example, my team finds the way it integrates published, private and net fares in one display very powerful. We can see Travelport Universal Desktop streamlining our end-to-end booking process as it guides us to ask the right questions first time, every time, this really helps our consultants to be more productive and provide superior customer service.”

Jason Clarke, president and managing director for Travelport in Europe and Brazil, added: “It’s been very rewarding to see just what a positive impact Travelport Universal Desktop is having on GTM’s business and I look forward to working with other Travelport customers across Europe as we continue to deploy new products and technology to improve their business efficiency and enhance service to the end consumer.”
