JetBlue Launches In-Flight Internet; Sale

December 12, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

JetBlue passengers as of this week can e-mail and instant-message during their flights, as the airline has become the first domestic carrier to provide such services free in-flight. JetBlue partnered with Yahoo! Research in Motion and LiveTV to provide customers with online capabilities for such Wi-Fi enabled products as laptops and BlackBerrys. The airline has designated its Airbus A320 aircraft outfitted with wireless networks as "BetaBlue."

To celebrate the new in-flight services, JetBlue is holding a four-day sale for travel in January and February, with some blackout dates. Fares include $139 from Boston or New York JFK to San Francisco; $49 for intra-California flights between Long Beach and Oakland; and $99 from New York JFK to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (service begins January 10) or St. Maarten (service starts January 17). Flights must be booked online by December 14. Visit (JM)
