Sam Gilliland Joins Gogo Board of Directors

sam gillilandGogo, an aero-communications service provider, welcomed Sam Gilliland to its board of directors. Gilliland was most recently chairman and CEO of Sabre Holdings, a global travel technology company, where he led more than 10,000 employees in 60 countries.

Gilliland also previously served in several senior leadership positions at Sabre Holdings, including president and CEO of Travelocity, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Sabre Holdings, group president of Sabre Airline Solutions, and senior vice president and general manager of Sabre Business Travel Solutions. Before joining Sabre, Gilliland was an electrical engineer for Lockheed Missiles and Space in Austin, TX.

"Sam's immense experience in global travel and technology is a welcome addition to the Gogo board," said Ron LeMay, Gogo's chairman. "As Gogo expands its footprint globally, Sam's leadership with Sabre and within the travel and technology industries in general, will add to the overall knowledge that Gogo's board brings to the company."

In 2011, Gilliland was appointed to President Barack Obama's Travel and Tourism Advisory Committee that reports to the secretary of commerce. He also joined the Energy Security Leadership Council (ESLC) in 2012.

Gilliland earned an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Dallas and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas. Gilliland's term on the Gogo board will extend until the annual meeting of stockholders in 2017.
