Travelport Offers Hotel Shopping Transparency and Data

October 27, 2011 By: George Dooley Travel Agent

Significant enhancements to its Complete Pricing Plus hotel product for travel agents was announced by Travelport. Complete Pricing Plus provides travel agents with a total price including all rate changes, taxes and surcharges for an entire stay prior to the sell within a Galileo RoomMaster property availability, Travelport reports.

Complete Pricing Plus builds on the Complete Pricing functionality and enables agents to request additional pricing options such as charges for children, cribs and extra bedding up front within an availability request.

In addition, Complete Pricing Plus presents agents with standardized room, rule and rate information in a structured format enabling traditional and on-line agencies to identify information such as a room’s view, bedding configuration, meal plans, credential requirements, cancel policy, commission indicator and more, all within the availability response, Travelport says.

Complete Pricing Plus’ improved hotel shop and booking functionality meets the more complex needs of leisure travelers, combining all rate data and key room and rule attributes in one display. As more accurate information about the room, rate, and rules is displayed prior to sell, it makes it easier for an agency to select the appropriate hotel as they have a clearer and more accurate picture about the room they are booking and eliminates any surprises for the traveler on arrival at the hotel.

Complete Pricing Plus remains the only GDS product that enables hoteliers to return these pricing options in the total rate and formatted room and rule data during the shop process, Travelport says.

More than 70 leading hotel chains and central reservation systems (CRS) are now utilizing Complete Pricing Plus to provide enhanced pricing and more detailed and formatted hotel room, rule and rate information in the availability, rules and sell responses. Among these are Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, all Preferred Hotel Group brands and Harrah’s Entertainment.

“Complete Pricing Plus saves time for both hoteliers and agents by reducing the number of queries about hotel rates and room information. It is the only GDS product on the market that enables hoteliers to return pricing options such as charges for children, cribs and extra bedding within an availability request. This not only enhances leisure booking facilities but also provides a consistent approach with the way online travel agencies price hotel stays. Complete Pricing Plus also satisfies a major requirement of many OTA’s which is to obtain room and rule attributes via indicators or structured formats versus relying on parsing free format text. Complete Pricing Plus’ structured data enables the OTAs to easily determine and display the optimal products for both the OTA and for the end customer,” said Niklas Andreen, group vice president, hospitality and partner marketing, Travelport.

Michelle Woodley, senior vice president, distribution and revenue management, Preferred Hotel Group, said, “Complete Pricing Plus saves a great deal of time and money for both agents and our hoteliers. It enables us to provide a total price, inclusive of all known taxes, surcharges and extra option pricing, within an availability display. Because all room rate charges are included in the Total Cost of Stay quoted, it reduces the number of calls from agents to the hotel asking whether meals are included or about bedding configuration, and also eliminates potential customer service issues. Complete Pricing Plus is highly effective and we are very pleased to participate.”

Travelport notes that the enhancement of Complete Pricing Plus follows a number of other recent announcements from Travelport related to its ongoing drive to enhance its hospitality offering through a variety of investments in this area. This includes news of the development of Travelport Rooms and More, a hotel booking engine for travel agents; a larger, dedicated hospitality team and new helpdesks for hotel and car supplier customers.

There is no charge for hotel chains to participate in the Complete Pricing Plus program.
