Virgin Atlantic, Travelport GDS Sign Pact

May 11, 2009 By: George Dooley

A new multi-year agreement that will see Virgin Atlantic’s full content made available to all Galileo and Worldspan users worldwide has been announced by Travelport GDS. The agreement gives all Galileo and Worldspan-connected travel agents access to the airline’s full published fares and inventory. The global agreement includes access to the airline’s lowest web fares and extends the long-standing relationship between the two organizations. The new agreement takes effect immediately.

“We are delighted to have signed this global full content agreement and to be able to give our travel agency customers access to Virgin Atlantic’s full inventory, including their lowest web fares,” said Matthew Hall, Travelport’s vice president of airline services for Europe, Middle East and Africa. “By working with innovative, high profile carriers such as Virgin Atlantic to secure their full content on the GDS, we are ensuring that our agency customers remain competitive and continue to have access to the best possible airline content.”

Jon Harding, general manager of international & distribution for Virgin Atlantic, said: “Agents remain an essential part of our multi-channel distribution strategy as we look to build and grow. Travelport’s Galileo and Worldspan GDS platforms offer us exceptional reach and we are delighted to continue our close working relationship.”
