Vision Airlines Signs GDS Pact With Amadeus

June 21, 2011 By: George Dooley Travel Agent

Amadeus reports it has entered into a global distribution agreement with Vision Airlines, a fast-growing, low cost carrier serving several U.S. cities, primarily in the South and along the Gulf Coast. Vision’s inventory and fares are now accessible and can be booked via the Amadeus System.

The pact allows Vision to significantly extend its marketing and sales reach to new markets and new revenue opportunities worldwide through Amadeus’ distribution network. Amadeus global subscribers can now access and can book all of Vision’s fares and inventory, enabling them to offer their customers new flight options when traveling to destinations served by the airline.

“As we continue to open new routes, we want to be able to inform and engage travel sellers and to ultimately attract new Vision customers,” said Bill Maloney, Director of Business Development for Vision Airlines. “The global reach of Amadeus strategically supports our continued growth and momentum, and we’re excited to open more eyes to Vision.”

Based in Suwanee, Georgia, Vision currently serves 23 U.S. cities with continued plans for expansion. The carrier is focused on offering low fares, non-stop routes, and large jet service to leisure destinations including Destin, Florida; Las Vegas, Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale.

With one-way special fares often starting at $39, travel to these cities is discounted, more efficient, and more available, Vision said. The carrier also offers one-stop shopping for vacation travelers, offering packages that also include hotel and car rental.

“Airlines need the broadest reach possible to sell their seats and travel sellers need a variety of options to best serve their clients. That is why we are thrilled to have Vision join the Amadeus network,” said Dwayne Ingram, Executive Vice President for Amadeus Americas’ Airline Group. “We look forward to playing a part in Vision’s growth strategy, while also continuing to help our subscribers maximize travel value for their clients by delivering content that meets most any travel need.”

Started in 1994 operating tours of the Grand Canyon, Vision grew into one of the most trusted names in the charter airline industry and has flown for resorts, sports teams, and the U.S. government. Vision began its scheduled service in the fall of 2010 and has expanded to 23 cities in 14 states. The airline operates a mixed fleet of aircraft, including Boeing 767s and 737s, as well as Dornier 328s and 228s.
