A resident of Texas has tested positive for the Zika virus after traveling recently to Miami, marking the first case in the state linked to a trip within the United States, the Dallas Morning News reports. The man had traveled to an area of Miami where local transmission of the virus by mosquitoes had occurred.

Officials at the Texas Department of State Health Services told the Dallas Morning News that no other evidence of the virus or local transmission had been found in El Paso County, where the Texas man lives. Health officials are dropping the need for some pregnant women and women between the ages of 10 and 45 to get a prescription before receiving two free cans of mosquito repellent. Texas is the first state to issue a standing order for mosquito repellent.
