"Foodies" in search of world-class cuisine abroad can look forward to the upcoming “Amazing Taste of Thailand” and “Thailand Brand” taking place September 24-28 in Bangkok. Jointly organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Department of Export Promotion, the Thai Hotels Association, the Association of Domestic Travel, and the Thai Restaurant Association, the events are intended to increase awareness of Thai cuisine worldwide while using its cuisine to advertise tourism in Thailand.
Located at the CentralWorld Bangkok, the “Amazing Taste of Thailand” will include exhibitions of Thai cuisine and a diverse sampling of food products from around the four regions of Thailand, giving visitors in the food industry a chance to network and do business.
ooking classes will be offered to show visitors how to recreate specialty dishes, and participants will have the opportunity to watch contests in Thai food decoration while taking in several Thai cultural shows.
The “Thailand Brand” event will take place concurrently with the “Amazing Taste of Thailand” in Bangkok and around Thailand at other popular tourist destinations. The event is primarily aimed at chefs and owners of Thai restaurants abroad, with opportunities to meet with local restaurant owners, chefs, and companies involved in the production and distribution of Thai agricultural products. During these meetings they will provide insider tips and advice on how to operate Thai restaurants overseas, along with marketing strategies and ways to synergistically use Thailand’s tourism appeal to increase the profile of their product.
Currently, about 500 participants are scheduled to join this campaign, including owners, managers, chefs of overseas Thai restaurants, and food critics and writers.
