Thailand Uses Social Media to Boost Tourism

December 2, 2009 By: Meagan Drillinger

There is no doubt that this social media craze has taken the world by storm...or tweets. After successful Facebook and Twitter campaigns, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is taking steps to further communication with foreign travelers through online social media.

Its next project will be to advertise the trend of Tourism in Thailand by gathering all of Thailand's tourism video clips to broadcast on YouTube. And in addition to receiving Thailand's Twitter updates via text, followers can view pictures at TAT's TwitPic account. Also in the works: tourist destinations will be highlighted on Google Maps.
