This October, Cunard’s new Queen Elizabeth will launch the QueenElizabeth Theatre Company, performing in the ship’s RoyalCourtTheatre. Comprised of 29 singers, dancers, actors and musicians, the company will perform seven productions, including "Slice of Saturday Night," a popular spoof of 1960s music, Shakespeare’s "Twelfth Night" and scenes from Neil Simon’s "Last of the Red Hot Lovers,""Plaza Suite” and "The Odd Couple."
Complementing the Neil Simon bill is "The Piccadilly Line." Set in the shell of a London train car, the entire company performs spoken word, song and prose as characters get on and off a train journey. In contrast, the 16 dancers and singers of "Hotel Royale" revive the story of a hotel, a fallen playground of the rich and famous, and "Sing" features 21 musicians and four singers, performing contemporary musical theatre, pop and more classic music.
Inspired by "Apassionata" and "Dance Passion" on Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, "La Danza" features the talents of the dance ensemble. After each show, audience members are invited to stay for a Q&A with the actors. In the afternoon, the company will host a tailor-made panel quiz show, including the satire quiz shows "Have I Got News for You" and "QI."
Also new to Queen Elizabeth is Professional Insights, a series of expert lectures, Q&A’s, social meetings and workshops in a range of topics, including antiques, auctions, sculpture, history, literature, movie reviews, performance poetry, science and world affairs.
