Bonaire Begins Using Instagram to Share Images of Tourism

Tourism Corporation Bonaire will begin building its presence on the image-sharing social media platform, Instagram. Found under the username @BonaireTourism, the account aims to engage past and potential visitors by posting daily images of the island.

“Instagram has become one of the fastest growing social networks with more than 130 million users, and 16 billion photos added a day,” said Ethsel Pieternella, director of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “It is important for Bonaire to utilize this effective communications tool to connect directly with the audience, and increase awareness of our tourism product. With Bonaire’s presence on Instagram, our followers will experience real-time moments as they occur through pictures and stories will be immediately shared through those visuals.”

The BonaireTourism account will be updated daily with images of Bonaire’s diving, land activities, culture, cuisine, on-island events and more. Instagram is an online photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, apply digital filters to them, and share them on a variety of social networking services, such as Facebook and Twitter.
