Tauck Offers Complimentary Hotel Nights to Mark 85th Year

June 3, 2010 By: George Dooley

Tauck is saying “thank you” to guests traveling on the company’s 2011 tours and cruises by extending their journey with up to two complimentary hotel nights. Tauck’s special “Gift of Time” offer, part of the company’s celebration of its 85th anniversary, applies to each of Tauck’s nearly 100 land and cruise itineraries in 65 countries worldwide. In order to receive the complimentary hotel nights, travelers must book their 2011 journeys during Tauck’s anniversary year of 2010, Tauck says.

According to Tauck CEO Dan Mahar, the “Gift of Time” offer was formulated after considerable discussion about how the company should best say thank you to its guests. “We wanted to mark our anniversary with a significant gesture that had deeper meaning and more intrinsic value than a simple cash savings,” said Mahar. “We ultimately realized that the most meaningful way to say thank you was to provide our guests with ‘more’ of what they came to us for in the first place.”

Tauck’s “Gift of Time” program provides greater consideration to guests who have traveled with the company in the past. Returning Tauck guests can extend their 2011 journey with two complimentary hotel nights added to either the beginning or the end of their Tauck journey (or they can add a single complimentary hotel night at both ends).

New guests traveling with Tauck for the first time in 2011 will receive a single complimentary hotel night which can be used to extend either the beginning or end of their journey, Tauck says. The additional hotel nights are offered at the same hotels already featured at the beginning or conclusion of Tauck’s journeys, and include complimentary airport transfers.

Just a few of the hotels where guests can enjoy complimentary stays include the Westin Excelsior in Rome, the Mena House Oberoi in Cairo, the Regent in Beijing the Ritz-Carlton in Santiago, and the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.

Mahar also noted that the value of the two-night hotel stays, if arranged independently, could typically be upwards of $1,000 and that reservations at many of the properties are often difficult for independent travelers to secure because of the hotels’ popularity. He went on to add that the Tauck offer also has the practical benefit of providing travelers with a chance to rest and adjust to the local time prior to their tour or cruise.

Tauck announced its guest appreciation offer in a letter accompanying its new 2011 “Exotics” brochure, which the company recently mailed to past and prospective guests. Tauck’s collection of Exotic journeys is comprised of 25 itineraries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the South Pacific, including Tauck World Discovery land journeys, immersive small-group Tauck Culturious itineraries for boomer-age travelers, Tauck Bridges family adventures, and Tauck small-ship cruises.

Booking deadlines for the offer will vary by Tauck product category, and other restrictions also apply.
