In response to the recent swine flu scare, several major tour operators selling Mexico provided some relief to clients, promising to waive fees to anyone wishing to alter their vacation plans.

As of Tuesday, three major tour operators have all issued press releases outlining policies to ensure that vacationers to Mexico can reschedule without losing a dime: Travel Impressions, FunJet Vacations and MLT Vacations, which encompasses Worry-Free Vacations, NWA WorldVacations and Continental Airlines Vacations.

Travel Impressions

Travel Impressions’ Customer Care Group has established a toll-free number at 866-789-5384 to assist customers wishing to alter their travel plans to Mexico. In addition, Travel Impressions is waiving any internal fees for changes made now through May 12. Visit www.travelimpressions.com.

Funjet Vacations

Penalties will be waived for Funjet Vacations customers traveling now through May 6 who choose to cancel and rebook their vacation by May 6 for travel completed by April 30, 2010. The guidelines for rebooking the air portion of the vacation vary by carrier and customers may be subject to any airline and/or hotel imposed penalties.

The customer will receive the increase or decrease in price for the new vacation and must cancel prior to their scheduled departure time. Additionally, customers who have purchased the Complete Coverage who rebook their current vacation by May 6 for departures through April 30, 2010 will receive the Complete Coverage at no additional charge on their new reservation plus a $100 per reservation credit towards a future Funjet Vacation. The customer will receive the increase or decrease in price for the new vacation or they may cancel and receive a refund less the cost of the waiver. The customer must cancel prior to their scheduled departure time. This policy does not apply to "No-Show" situations where the customer does not check-in or is denied boarding.

However, late Tuesday afternoon, Funjet announced it is in the process of updating their policies to reflect the current situation and will be communicating the updated policy information as soon as it is available. If any of the policy information changes, Travel Agent will keep you updated.
