New Itineraries From Avanti Destinations for 2017

FIT tour operator (who sell exclusively through travel agents) Avanti Destinations has added three new destinations and 55 new Central and South American experiences to its new 2017 portfolio of itineraries. Available in the upcoming year will be new voluntourism opportunities, nature and wildlife viewings, adventure travel, rail tourings and gourmet experiences for the independent traveler.

The three new destinations that have been added include Laguna de Apoyo in Nicaragua, Isla Múcura off the Caribbean coast of Colombia and the wetlands of Argentina, Esteros del Iberá. Agents can combine two- or three-night modular stays, including transfers, in multiple locations to create vacations.

During Argentina: Esteros del Ibera Wetlands, guests will spend four days and three nights in a four-star hotel on the edge of floating islands that are home to over 300 bird species, howler monkeys, caimans, marsh deer and butterflies. Avanti Destinations feels this itinerary is ideal as a pre/post-excursion from Igassu Falls; starting at $1,435 per person, double occupancy.

Colombia: Isla Múcura takes travelers off the beaten path for two hours by boat, from Cartagena to Punta Faro, a resort within the National Natural Park Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo. For four days and three nights, starting at $795 per person, guests can kayak, snorkel or dive among coral reefs or lounge on a private beach, also with all meals included.

Other itineraries available for 2017 include Argentina: Spirit of the Glaciers; Belize: Ruins & Reef; Costa Rica: Rio Perdido; Ecuador: Tren Crucero; Nicaragua: Volunteer in Paradise; and Peru: The Flavors of Peru.

For agents selling a lot of voluntourism, the Nicaragua: Volunteer in Paradise sends guests to Morgan’s Rock Eco-Lodge for five days and four nights, with one day spent helping out a local school or farm. This itinerary is available to travelers from $1,595 and offers all meals included.

For agents booking holiday getaways for their clients, Avanti Destinations suggests selling warmer clients that offer more than just a tropical beach. Avanti recommends its Argentina: Buenos Aires tour, Argentina & Chile: Patagonia Explorer tour; Peru: Classic Inca Trail tour and its Flavors of Peru itinerary as viable options for international travels this winter.

Starting at $5,695, guests can combine Buenos Aires, Santiago and Patagonia on  the Argentina & Chile: Patagonia Explorer itinerary. Guests will spend 12 days/11 nights on the tour which will include ground transfers, two nights in Santiago, a private walking tour of Santiago, four nights and all meals on either an Australis cruise or in Torres del Paine with guided tours, two nights at El Calafate, a Perito Moreno glacier tour, three nights in Buenos Aires, a tango show plus dinner and a Buenos Aires city tour.

On Peru: Classic Inca Trail, guests will vacation for five days and four nights for a true hiking challenge, well-suited for those looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure to Machu Picchu. For $1,495 per person, the tour includes round trip transfers from Cuzco or Sacred Valley, three nights camping, all meals, tent, sleeping bag and pad, guide and porter service, an Inca Trail permit, one night at Aguas Calientes plus breakfast and a private Machu Picchu guided tour.
