Stats: Agent Bookings Double at Austin Adventures

Montana-based adventure tour operator Austin Adventures reports that its travel agent bookings have doubled over the past year. Additionally, the company is predicting that 2018 could be another record-breaking year for agent bookings.

Austin Adventures, which was recently repurchased from Xanterra Parks & Resorts by company president Dan Austin and the Austin family, is also a member and preferred tour operator and partner of Virtuoso.

The tour operator also offers all agents regardless of affiliation an extra $100 bonus per guest when they book their first Austin Adventures trip, on top of a 12 percent commission paid to all travel agents. For group or private trips, the company also offers a competitive net rate that it says agents can sell for increased margins.

Dan Austin also said that the company pays travel agents the appropriate commission level for trips booked directly by their clients. The company requires that the client confirms the agent relationship and that the agent can take over the reservation within 30 days of the clients date of deposit.

Austin Adventures also provides free familiarization tours to agents who have sold multiple Austin Adventures tours. Agents can also enjoy fam trips for 50 percent off list price, or 25 percent off for a companions rate. The tour operator also hosts one-on-one trainings, quarterly agent-focused webinars, deskside visits, sales materials, PDFs of trip pre-departure information documents and a travel agent-only online portal.
