Starting in 2017, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection is launching its inaugural Jewish Heritage themed cruises. The program, which will be included on all departures of the new Rhine-Main Discovery & Munich itinerary, focuses on the ancient history and modern-day inclusion of Jewish cultures and communities within Germany.
Onboard Uniworld’s River Ambassador, guests will travel from Munich to Cologne, passing through historic cities known for their Jewish heritage, including Dachau, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Wertheim. The 10-day itinerary offers guests a wide array of travel experiences to choose from, from the standard excursions typically offered to Jewish-themed excursions. Uniworld is also offering a variety of “Choice is Yours” alternatives, which allow guests to tailor their cruise, itinerary and excursions to their particular interests.
Interested travelers will experience a fresh perspective on judaic history and culture by learning how Jewish people thrived for centuries in the Rhineland, and how they are flourishing once again. All excursions offered will be led by knowledgeable and passionate guides who will inform guests about the social and historical realities about the “Jewish way of life,” both past and present. Sites visited on the Rhine-Main Discovery & Munich itinerary include Jewish synagogues, cemeteries, Holocaust memorials, World War II sites, museums and historic Jewish enclaves.
Onboard, guests will dine on gourmet cuisine (non-kosher), prepared with farm-to-table ingredients and paired with regional wines. There will also be opportunities onboard for guests to attend a series of Jewish-themed Signature Lectures including “The History of Jews in Europe” and “Jewish Intellectuals, Writers & Musicians,” presented by local experts and historians to enhance the understanding of Judaism’s enduring legacy across the continent.
