Caribbean Week to Return in 2009

November 21, 2008 By: Joe Pike

According to a source close to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), Caribbean Week will return to New York in 2009. The popular Caribbean trade show was replaced last year by the Annual Caribbean Tourism Summit (ACTS) in Washington, D.C. The CTO is currently working on securing dates but it will most likely be in the first or second week of June.

Tentative programming will include a Caribbean fair, a Caribbean marketing conference and trade show, travel agent workshops, a media marketplace, town hall meetings, a Rum and Rhythm Celebration and the CTO Foundation/Governments of the Caribbean State Ball. There will possibly be additional events to be announced as well.

Immediately following Caribbean Week in New York will be the 2nd Annual Caribbean Tourism Summit in Washington, DC. This event, like last year’s, will be business-focused and include meetings on Capitol Hill as well as internal meetings with CTO and Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association officials.
