MLT University Sees New Record, 2,000 Agents Attend

ST. PAUL, MinnesotaTravel Agent is on site for the 17th annual MLT University, which officially kicked off Sunday night with a opening reception and awards ceremony.

On Monday, Travel Agent was able to get the specific numbers of the event and learned that the part trade show/part seminar attracted roughly 2,000 agents, a new record.

Ken Pomerantz, president and chief marketing officer for MLT Vacations, attributed the record-setting attendance to the new partnerships the tour operator has made with agents across the U.S. in the last year.

“I asked everyone who was here for the first time to raise their hands (on Sunday) and there were quite a few people who did,” he told us.

Last year’s show saw between 1,500 -1,600 agents. This year's event attracted way more than that, also featuring partners of MLT, suppliers, hoteliers and of course nearly the entire MLT Vacations staff. The event will feature a trade show later Monday afternoon and also 40 destination classes throughout the event.

“We expanded our presence in the U.S., specifically in New Jersey, in New York, Georgia, Texas and we are seeing a lot of agents from those areas attending for the first time,” Pomerantz told Travel Agent.
