Peru Prepares for the Main Stage

Peru used its attendance at Luxury Travel Expo to promote itself as a culinary destination and, surprisingly, a honeymoon destination as well. But this was just a tune up for what is expected to be a very busy12 months for the increasingly popular Latin American getaway. In September the country will host TravelMart Latin America in Lima, a show that helped Ecuador, Colombia and, more recently, Chile get on the radar of U.S. agents.

“We are really excited for that show because we know what it will do for Peru tourism and what it has done for other destinations,” said Karin Oliva, market specialist for PromPeru, Peru’s tourism board. “We want people to know we are a great place for honeymooners because you can travel there any time of the year and we are a great place for culinary travel because there are so many great places to eat. We are using this show and next year’s show to move to the next level.”
