San Francisco Water Taxi LLC was awarded a five-year contract by the Port of San Francisco to operate service between Pier 1½ near the Ferry Building and Hyde Street Harbor in Fisherman’s Wharf. Proprietor John Scannell, who also owns Bay Quackers, said service will begin within 90 days of the October 11 announcement.
Following its San Francisco installation, water taxi service will begin operating to other cities around San Francisco Bay, including on demand service between San Francisco, Marin and Alameda counties. A ride across the bay has been set at approximately $18, to be finalized. Water taxi service will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the possibility of later hours during weekend nights.
