Brekcenridge Ski Resort in Colorado along with the Town of Breckenridge said Monday that construction on the Breckenridge gondola would begin this spring. Passengers will board the gondola in the town center and ride up to the ski resort's Peak 7 and Peak 8, where the end terminals will be located. The resort said the new gondola will allow the mountain and town to better integrate and upgrade the skier experience, since the number of people who need to be bused to the mountain will be reduced. The eight-passenger gondola is expected to be complete by Christmas 2006. (FF)
