Enterprise Rent-A-Car is set to acquire the Vanguard Car Rental Group, a transaction that will combine three car rental brands. The deal is expected to close later this year. Vanguard, based in Tulsa, OK, operates the National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, known for serving the airport segment of the market. Enterprise's strength meanwhile, is in the in-town and insurance replacement segments. "It's clear to us that the future belongs to the service providers who offer the broadest array of services," said Enterprise Rent-A-Car chairman and CEO Andrew Taylor. "Joining forces with National and Alamo will enable us to do just that." The collaboration enhances Enterprise's ability to compete more effectively in all segments of the car rental market. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
