Train Derails in Britain Over the Weekend

A high-speed train traveling between London and Glasgow derailed on Saturday, killing one injuring about 22 passengers. The Agence France-Presse reports that the nine-car train, operated by Virgin Trains, co-owned by Virgin Group, derailed at approximately 95 miles per hour late Friday, sliding down an embankment and causing several cars to fall on their sides. The train was carrying about 100 passengers. British Transport Police believe the crash was due to failure points, since maintenance work was carried out on the track over the last week.
