Agent Air Ticket Sales 3.35 Percent Ahead

airplaneARC reports that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 3.35 percent year-over-year in the first 11 months of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, and 9.80 percent over the same period in 2010. From January through November 2012, ticket sales totaled $79.8 billion, compared to $77.2 billion in 2011, and $72.7 billion in 2010.

Year-to-date passenger segments for the first 11 months of 2012 increased slightly 0.02 percent at 342.4 million segments, compared to 342.3 million in 2011–while reflecting a 2.7 percent decrease from the same period in 2010. Ticket transactions between January and November 2012 also decreased slightly by 0.21 percent over the same period in 2011, while down by 2.1 percent compared to the same period in 2010.
