ARC Reports Agency Air Sales Remain Flat

graphARC reports the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 0.39 percent  year-over-year in the first eight months of 2013 compared to the same period last year, totaling $60.3 billion vs. $60.1 billion in 2012.

ARC noted that results are based on monthly sales data ending August 31, 2013 from 13,670 U.S. retail and corporate travel agencies, satellite ticket printing offices and online travel agencies. Results do not include sales of tickets purchased directly from airlines and total sales are equal to the total amount paid for a ticket, which includes taxes and fees.

Ticket transactions so far for 2013 decreased 1.19 percent over the same period in 2012 to 99.3 million, ARC said. Year-to-date passenger segments increased 2.2 percent to 253.9 million compared to 248.4 million in the eight months of 2012 and 253.3 million in 2011.
