ARC Reports Continued Decline in Domestic Transactions

The Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) reported $7.9 billion in air sales for May 2008.  Year-to-date air sales are up five percent over the same period of 2007 to $37.7 billion. Total taxes and fees grew 9.4 percent for May and 10 percent for the same period of 2007.

Total transactions declined 8.8 percent to 13.2  million and declined 3.5 percent for the first five months of 2008 compared to 2007. Domestic transactions dropped 10.7 percent and international transactions 3.7 percent, ARC said.

Total fares held at $6.8 billion while international fares grew 1.5 percent to $3.3 billion. Domestic fares dropped 0.3 percent for the month to $3.5 billion. ARC said 18,084 retail locations reported and 1,274 STP locations. Average daily sales reported were $13,238 with 165 carriers reporting. Visit
