ARC Reports Sales Gains for May

Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) reported total sales of $7,498,947,765 billion, a 5.92 percent gain for May 2011 over May 2010 and a 7.79 percent gain year to date (YTD) to $36,717,825,470 billion. Total transactions declined to 12,665,882, a 0.92 percent drop while total taxes and fees hit $1,124,452,690, a 14.02 percent increase.

Credit card sales increased to $6,702,089,203, a 6.17 percent gain and YTD to $32,817,841,268, a 7.41 percent increase. Cash sales also increased for the month to $796,858,562, a 3.80 percent gain.

Domestic fares reported were $3,148,171,902, a 3.31 percent gain and YTD $15,665,203,185, a 5.97 percent gain. Domestic transactions declined slightly to 9,044,060, a 0.47 percent drop for the month, while YTD they hit 45,511,757, a 1.96 decline.

International fares grew to $3,133,741,670, a 5.71 percent gain and YTD to $15,112,454,700, a 8.08 percent increase. Total fares reported by ARC hit $6,281,913,572, a 4.49 percent gain for May and YTD totaled $30,777,657,885, a 6.99 percent increase.

ARC said that 14,500 retail locations reported for the month as well as 686 STP (Satellite) and 1,319 VTC (Virtual) locations. The average daily sales reported was $14.656.
